Our Cellar Door is situated at picturesque Pokolbin in the famous Hunter Valley, Australia’s first wine growing region. We believe that the best way to start a visit is to relax with of a glass of French style bubbly, whilst you ponder what to partake of next.
Our selection of white wines includes famous Hunter Valley Semillon, Chardonnay and for the perfect match to Asian dishes Gewürztraminer. The best of the red wines include Hunter Valley Shiraz, for a unique Shiraz experience, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
If you fancy something luscious then our “Elizabeth” Sauvignon Blanc dessert wine and Port are a must!
Wine Selection
For over thirty years our winemaker Alain Leprince has crafted the Terrace Vale wines, some are available in your local liquor store, the others are specialty wines that are only available through Cellar Door or to our wine club members. A brief summary of the wines is outlined below.
Declared Vintage
The French expression "Declared Vintage" denotes a season that is characterised by perfect growing conditions therefore producing outstanding wines.
Each vintage Alain conducts a tasting of the individual parcels of wines, if in a particular vintage he believes that there is a parcel of exceptional quality, it is allocated “Declared Vintage” status.
These wines are released only in very small quantities, and are a reflection of the best that the vineyards have produced in that year, as a result the variety may vary each vintage. Many Terrace Vale devotees eagerly await the release of these wines and add them to their cellar.
Old Vine Range
Our OLD VINE range showcases our premium selection of wines, crafted from the original 35 year old vines and traditionally made using French winemaking techniques. Today we have one of the few old vine vineyards in the region; a vine is classified as an old vine when it is over twenty years old. Old vines have a deep root system that tends to produce lower volume yet more concentrated fruit flavours.
Specialty Wines
Alain also produces small quantities of what he affectionately call his “specialty wines”, traditional French style bubbly, the delicious “Elizabeth” dessert wine and occasionally a heart warming Port.

Terrace Vale Vineyard & Winery is approx 2 hours from Sydney and 1 hour from Newcastle or the Central Coast.
From Sydney follow the F3 to the Cessnock turn off then follow the Wine Country signs to Cessnock. Turn down Wine Country Drive and then turn left onto McDonalds Rd, and Deasys Rd is the first right, Deasys Rd is now fully sealed.
